Michael is employed by The Sunday Crusader as a junior reporter and devotes his spare time to the unsuccessful pursuit of Sally Raglan, an attractive and promising young actress. He is sent on an assignment to Paris where he meets Joe Hirsch for the first time in ten years. Through Joe, he is introduced to Pierrette Levi and falls in love. But there are aspects of Pierrette's life which Michael can never share.
