June, 1647 "Not Peace, But a Sword" The war is over. The King has lost and been taken into custody. The Lacey's rebellious daughter, Anne, who stood out against her father, her brother, her family and took the Parliamentary side, is now the mistress of the family's Arnescote Castle. As Arnescote welcomes its new owners, attempts are made to heal the wounds caused by the war, but a mutiny in the army threatens the peace between King and Parliament.
