Series Description

An animal show for grown-ups as well as kids. For the last ten years, first with the Massachusetts SPCA and since then with the London-based International Society for the Protection of Animals (whose American office he then headed), John Walsh has been point man in the effort to control the natural and man caused horrors menacing the planet's wildlife. Every week on "Walsh's Animals" deals with both domestic and wild animals, in an effort to provide people with information to help save endangered wildlife and to correct domestic abuses. Footage of the ways animals live in the wild combined with tips on animal care are a regular feature of each show. See October 1973 Prime Time for cover story. Series release date: 10/1/1973.

Program Description

A number of fish stories you may never have heard before: did you know that catfish "talk?" (One does, on the show; and John shows you how to make a device that'll let you hear him.) That lobsters communicate through B.O.? (A lady lobster changes a male lobster's thoughts of fighting to thoughts of mating before your eyes.) Have you seen the fabulous coelacanth, the "living fossil" that never lives long enough to be photographed alive? (We have footage of one.) Or do you know the ins and outs of building an aquarium for your home? Or how the seahorse is into women's lib? Or how to catch a fish with Sonar? All this--and more.
