Program Description

In Gerd Stern’s “Artists Babies Bodies” two group interviews are filmed in an unusual manner. While artists talk about public art and architecture, the camera searches out details of their bodies through the use of close-ups. Following this, a group of mothers talking about children and politics is filmed in the same manner. While the conversations amble along in a linear fashion, the viewer’s eye is drawn to an earlobe, a crop of hair, a foot, the curve of someone’s arm, or a baby’s leg.
