The Great Outdoors is a new 13 part series designed to encourage the pursuit of outdoor activities. Each week, series host Jim Tabor, expert sportsman and accomplished outdoors writer, reviews basic and more advanced techniques, skills and gear relevant to that pursuit, with an eye toward exploring America’s rich and accessible open air resources. A stellar lineup of guest experts join host Tabor as THE GREAT OUTDOORS criss-crosses the country exploring remarkable places and events in the American outdoors. Packaged in a lively, magazine format, the series is made up of 10 rotating segments, five of which are featured each week. The magazines segments include: Getting Started, Taking Care, In Gear, Viewfinder, Backcountry Kitchen, Urban Wilderness, High Adventure, Discovery, Feature Stories and Getaways. Series release date: 4/7/1984
