- Series Description
FRONTLINE is investigative journalism that questions, explains and changes our world. Since 1983, FRONTLINE has served as PBS's flagship public affairs series. Hailed upon its television broadcast debut as "the last best hope for broadcast documentaries," FRONTLINE's stature is reaffirmed each week through incisive documentaries covering the scope and complexity of the human experience.
- Program Description
College sports focusing on two high school students' experience getting recruited. Many young men, especially many poor blacks in the nation's cities, dream of making it big by playing basketball. Correspondent Charlie Cobb looks at some who make it, and many who will not, and at many of the issues in high school and college sports today. College recruiters seek the best of them, promising an education in exchange for play. But seventy-five percent never get a college degree because, as this film suggests, colleges are too busy with their big-time sports programs to be concerned with educating their players.
