Long Ago and Far Away captures the spirit of children's literature in a weekly series showcasing international television programs of classic and contemporary children's books, folktales, and fairy tales. The animated and dramatic productions recall the magic of storytelling. Series release date: 1988
- Program Description
Set in Bhutan, this program tells the story of a young boy whose family raises cows in a mountain village. When a teacher realizes the boy needs glasses, he tries to persuade the boy's family. "There's nothing wrong with his eyesight," the grandmother explains, "as long as he can count the cows." In the end, the boy does get his glasses and sees the world clearly for the first time.
