A portrait of Kannapolis, North Carolina, a company-owned town of 35,000 and home of Cannon Mills Corporation, a textile company known for manufacturing bath towels. Some workers affectionately refer to owner Charlie Cannon as “Uncle Charlie” for his generosity in providing free or low-cost services and housing to residents of Kannapolis but Ralph Nader argues that dominant companies in a town owe a responsibility to the community that will provide a moral content to it’s profits.
