Taking viewers on a mouthwatering voyage of cultural relationships, entertaining how-to and informative overview about America’s love affair with bread. The entire series will delve into the cultural and culinary history of bread in all forms. Taking in the sights, sounds, smells and tastes that make up the wonderfully varied kitchens, bakeries and restaurants in America and around the world. Series release date: 2003
- Program Description
Food writer Mark Kurlansky takes us on a trip to explore traditions and bakeries nestled in the Italian neighborhoods of New York City. Peter Reinhart, author and faculty member at Johnson and Wales University, then lets you in on the secrets of the perfect loaf of bread, from creation to consumption. Finally celebrity chef Lidia Bastianich takes us into her kitchen and serves up some special recipes.
