Series Description

Hosted by Meryl Streep, this 10-part series examines the major environmental issues facing the world today ranging from population growth to soil erosion, from the destruction of forests to climate changes induced by human activity--taking into account the wide spectrum of opinion about what constitutes an environmental problem, as well as disagreements about appropriate remedial measures--analyzing problems and possible solutions. Themes include: sustainability; interconnection of economy and ecosystem; short-term vs. long-term; tradeoffs; decision-making. NOTE: Seven 15-minute modules plus an on-air outreach wrap-up airs locally in a 2-hour slot 3/10/94. Series release date: 1994
