Series Description

FRONTLINE is investigative journalism that questions, explains and changes our world. Since 1983, FRONTLINE has served as PBS's flagship public affairs series. Hailed upon its television broadcast debut as "the last best hope for broadcast documentaries," FRONTLINE's stature is reaffirmed each week through incisive documentaries covering the scope and complexity of the human experience.

Program Description

FRONTLINE and TIME magazine step back from the heat of the 1988 presidential campaign to examine, in-depth, the background, character, qualifications, and beliefs of the Republican and Democratic candidates, George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Correspondent Garry Wills assesses their lives and careers through the people who know them best. Presidential candidates George Bush and Michael Dukakis are profiled in this 90-minute FRONTLINE/TIME special exploring the candidates' political and personal histories and how their lives have intersected with important events in our national history. The profiles examine key moments that tested the character of these men, looking for insight into how they make their decisions. Author/ historian Garry Wills reveals how each candidate views the world, when and how those views were shaped, their capacity to choose good advisors and make tough decisions, to understand serious issues and educate the public on the country's difficult choices.
