Series Description

FRONTLINE is investigative journalism that questions, explains and changes our world. Since 1983, FRONTLINE has served as PBS's flagship public affairs series. Hailed upon its television broadcast debut as "the last best hope for broadcast documentaries," FRONTLINE's stature is reaffirmed each week through incisive documentaries covering the scope and complexity of the human experience.

Program Description

Profiles the mysterious, tortured life of James Jesus Angleton, ex-chief of counterintelligence for the CIA in the 1950's and 1960's. A master spy, Angleton spent the later years of his tenure searching for a supposed Soviet "mole" inside the CIA ranks. After a long and obsessive spy hunt, many colleagues were accused, many careers were destroyed, and the agency itself was damaged. Reporter Tom Mangold spent three years investigating the story, interviewing over 300 CIA employees.
