- Series Description
FRONTLINE is investigative journalism that questions, explains and changes our world. Since 1983, FRONTLINE has served as PBS's flagship public affairs series. Hailed upon its television broadcast debut as "the last best hope for broadcast documentaries," FRONTLINE's stature is reaffirmed each week through incisive documentaries covering the scope and complexity of the human experience.
- Program Description
Examines the political struggles of El Salvador's President Jose Napoleon Duarte and raises serious questions about the effectiveness of US efforts in that country. In Central America, while U.S. attention has been dominated by the contra war in Nicaragua, the battle for El Salvador continues. The U.S. government has dumped nearly $3 billion in aid into El Salvador (more than ten times the amount spent on the contras), but there are new signs that the American policy is in trouble. With exclusive footage shot behind guerrilla lines, FRONTLINE takes a fresh look at the war in El Salvador.
