Program Description: In 1992, an estimated 2.5 million illegal and 973,000 legal immigrants came to America. Correspondent William Langewiesche explores the growing fears about economic costs and long-term social and political disruption. Focusing on California's situation, the state with the largest population of illegal immigrants, the program looks at the state's sagging economy which has unleashed a fire storm of public and political pressure to crack down, making illegal immigration the largest issue in California's gubernatorial race.
