- Series Description
FRONTLINE is investigative journalism that questions, explains and changes our world. Since 1983, FRONTLINE has served as PBS's flagship public affairs series. Hailed upon its television broadcast debut as "the last best hope for broadcast documentaries," FRONTLINE's stature is reaffirmed each week through incisive documentaries covering the scope and complexity of the human experience.
- Program Description
In 1992, an estimated 2.5 million illegal and 973,000 legal immigrants came to America. Correspondent William Langewiesche explores the growing fears about economic costs and long-term social and political disruption. Focusing on California's situation, the state with the largest population of illegal immigrants, the program looks at the state's sagging economy which has unleashed a fire storm of public and political pressure to crack down, making illegal immigration the largest issue in California's gubernatorial race.
