- Program Description
Radio program focusing on the movement to unseat the congressional delegation from Mississippi on the grounds that it does not accurately reflect the citizens of Mississippi due to state voting laws that exclude 93% of all eligible black Mississippi voters. Instead it is proposed that the Freedom Democratic Party represent the state rather than the traditional Democratic delegation.
Program opens with Rick Lee of WGBH-FM interviewing attorney Willian Kunstler of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) about the basis for the call to unseat the MS delegation. Later excerpts are played back from testimonies at the Congressional Hearings held to look into the allegations brought by challengers representing five congressional districts in MS.
