He was a legendary performer and a fine composer as well. But above all, this Spanish cellist was a man of pasionate integrity. One night, five minutes before a perfromance of the Dvorak cello concerto, he learned that the conductor thought it was bad music. Casals could not stand this hypocrisy and to the horror of everyone present, he refused to perform. Virginia Eskin explores the life and music of the uncompromising Pablo Casals, this week on ANTY.
