Program Description

Radio retrospective and tribute to John F. Kennedy shortly after his assassination. Includes excerpts from JFK speeches. 1) Excerpted clip of Massachusetts Governor Endicott Peabody statement regarding JFK assassination (11/22/1963). 2) Excerpt from JFK address at salute dinner in Boston (10/19/1963). 3) Excerpted clip of poet Archibald MacLeish at dedication ceremony for Robert Frost Library at University of Massachusetts, Amherst (10/26/1963). 4) Excerpt from JFK address at dedication ceremony for Robert Frost Library at University of Massachusetts, Amherst (10/26/1963). 5) Excerpt from JFK address (undated) in which JFK comments on his view on " the job of being President". 6) Excerpt from JFK address (10/22/1962) "At the beginning of the Cuban Crisis" in which he calls for Soviet leader Nikita Krushchev to withdraw missiles from Cuba. 7) Excerpt from JFK address (5/1963) on the topic of Civil Rights. 8) Excerpt of address by U Thant, Secretary General of the United Nations commenting on JFK assassination, followed by moment of silence, then calling for immediate adjournment of the UN meeting. 9) Clip of Erich Leinsdorf announcing to the audience at Symphony Hall that JFK had been killed. Symphony proceeds to play the Funeral March, by Beethoven. William Pierce closes BSO broadcast.

Program ends with station ids by Ted Mascott, and then goes into ~5 minutes of BBC programming related to UK reaction to JFK's death.
