Description from WGBH press release of the day: “ Picture a ‘moveable church’ that goes into hospitals and nursing homes and teaches karate classes in a gymnasium – a church with a building, sure enough, but a church whose primary aim is to ‘get God out of the church.’ It’s the Koinonia Black Baptist Church, in Gary, Indiana – the subject of tonight’s Religious America.
Filmed in Gary, Indiana in and around The Koinonia Missionary Baptist Church, founded in May, 1971. Participants: Millie Jones; and Rev. Thomas Brown.
