Series premiered May 5, 1979 Produced by WGBH Radio, Masterpiece Radio Theatre is a 52 week series of classic drama featuring dramatizations of American literary classics and selections from the BBC’s outstanding repertoire of radio drama. Programs included Anna Karenina, House of Mirth, Moby Dick, Jane Eyre, Far From the Madding Crowd, Sons and Lovers, and Les Miserables. Hosted by Julie Harris and produced by Elinor Stout.

Aired Sundays October 14 and 21, 1979 A two-part, one woman dramatization of the life of Charlotte Bronte, written by William Luce and starring Julie Harris. The action takes place during the course of one night in the Bronte household where Charlotte, having just returned from the funeral of her last sister, Emily, sits writing at her small desk remembering the lives of her sister, their dissolute brother Branwell, and their stern father, Rev. Patrick Bronte.
