- Series Description
FRONTLINE is investigative journalism that questions, explains and changes our world. Since 1983, FRONTLINE has served as PBS's flagship public affairs series. Hailed upon its television broadcast debut as "the last best hope for broadcast documentaries," FRONTLINE's stature is reaffirmed each week through incisive documentaries covering the scope and complexity of the human experience.
- Program Description
This program follows the producers to Haiti where they covered the escalating confrontation between the military government, the Clinton administration and the United Nations. The story begins with the Governor's Island accord, signed in July 1993, which set October 30, 1993 as the date for the return of exiled President Jean-Bertrand Aristide to power. Interviews include military ruler Lt. General Raoul Cedras, Aristide, U.S. officials, Haitian businessmen and Aristide supporters. The program will cover developments up to air time as well as set the events in historical context. The program includes interviews with two Aristide supporters, Antoine Izmery, a major financial backer of Aristide's political coalition, and Justice Minister Guy Malary. Both men were assassinated only days after they spoke to FRONTLINE. Reported by Robert Parry and producer June Cross.
