In its premiere program, BODYWATCH examines America's preoccupation with thinness and dieting. Recent research into the physical, psychological and social determinants of and influences on body weight reveal that the issue may be more complex than most of us think. BODYWATCH experts discuss the dangers of crash diets as well as the hazards of carrying too much weight. Finally, the role of exercise in maintaining a trim physique is explored. The featured guest is Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank, whose campaign slogan once was "neatness isn't everything," and who recently lost some 100 lbs.
