- Series Description
FRONTLINE is investigative journalism that questions, explains and changes our world. Since 1983, FRONTLINE has served as PBS's flagship public affairs series. Hailed upon its television broadcast debut as "the last best hope for broadcast documentaries," FRONTLINE's stature is reaffirmed each week through incisive documentaries covering the scope and complexity of the human experience.
- Program Description
In "Hunter & Son," Mikhail Kuzakov and his son Yuri brave -40 degrees F. temperatures in the Siberian wilderness as they hunt on horseback for sable and other valuable fur animals. It is a hard life but one they enjoy. Cameras follow the two on a typical day of hunting and trapping, and in town, interview Mikhail's wife and the town's schoolteacher. Scenes of trapping and hunting of animals as well as skinning and handling of pelts and furs are included. In the studio, Woodruff interviews the producer, Denton, on the filming conditions in Siberia and Drs. Khinchuk and Gibson on life in Siberia and its future.
