WGBH Forum Network; Mixed: My Life in Black and White

03/23/2006

Mixed: My Life in Black and White Angela Nissel, writer "Love has no color," insist Angela Nissel's parents, leaving her to ask "but does it have a clue?" In her candid, funny, and poignant memoir, Nissel recounts moving between black inner-city schools and white prep schools; college experiments with black activism; capitalizing on her "exotic" look at a strip club; and generally being a "mixed" girl in a mixed-up world. Mixed is by turns a comedy of errors and a moving coming-of-age chronicle, tracing one woman's unforgettable journey to self-acceptance and belonging. Co-presented with ACT Roxbury.
