A 1967 production of MIT, CBC and WGBH-TV, Boston. Producer and Director: Peter Downey.

Reporter John Fitch talks with young Israeli design architect Moshe Safdie who was responsible for the Habitat exhibit at EXPO ’67 and then tours the exhibit with project architect Anthony Peters.

“This year for the first time, North America will be host to a First Category World’s Fair -- EXPO-67, which will open in Montreal, Canada, in April. Seventy-three different countries, in addition to the Corporation itself, will be exhibiting on the theme of Man and His World. One outstanding example is Habitat... a new and unique approach to urban living. Host John Fitch meets with the building’s young architect, Moshe Safdie, to lean about the development of this unusual design and what problems it hopes to solve. Then Project Architect Anthony Peters takes Mr. Fitch on a tour of the building site, explaining the innovative construction techniques required by Safdie’s design. Finally, Mr. Safdie concludes the program with illustrations of his plan for a complete development of the Habitat neighborhood, to come after EXPO-67 is over.”
