Program premiered in 1971 with The First Churchills. Hosted by Alastair Cooke. Intended as a showcase for the best of British television drama. Spawned MYSTERY! in 1980. Program Description

More and more the war makes its way onto the home front. As rumors of German atrocities spread, decent people are named to indecent acts. No one of German birth is safe even naturalized British subjects like the Bellamys' baker, whose shop is burned and whose family is attacked.
