Program premiered in 1971 with The First Churchills. Hosted by Alastair Cooke. Intended as a showcase for the best of British television drama. Spawned MYSTERY! in 1980. August 1940. Foyle is torn between his desire to help his son and his duty as a policeman when a murder investigation leads him to a radar station where Andrew Foyle (Julian Ovenden) is working on a top-secret operation. Andrew’s suspicions about his place of work put him in danger, while Foyle and Milner uncover revenge, suicide and the truth about a priceless art collection. The solution comes just in time for Hitler’s Eagle Day attack, intended to destroy England’s radar defenses as a prelude to invasion.
