This series is black produced and is one of public television's longest-running series that is rooted in and reflects the culture, concerns, achievements and history of people of African descent. Also includes controversial issues, African American artists, and events of special interest to the African American community.

The days of gold stars and blue ribbons have long gone but the need to motivate students remains strong. Cash, cars, laptops, or AP classes? What are the incentives that work and are those incentives a reflection on the learning environment? Do students of color require different motivational methods? How can teachers become partners in engaging the 21st century student in the learning experience?
