Program premiered in 1971 with The First Churchills. Hosted by Alastair Cooke. Intended as a showcase for the best of British television drama. Spawned MYSTERY! in 1980. Program Description

Broadcast: April 13- May 25, 1980 Set in London and Cornwall and spanning the period from 1900 through World War I, the story centers on two men who grew up together and maintain a close relationship throughout their lives. As their sons grow up, the contrast in their characters reflects the personal and dominating ambitions of each father.
