Bassist and vocalist Esperanza Spalding began her musical career at the age of 15. “Right from the beginning, I understood how the bass works, the role of the bass, I knew what to do…” says Esperanza Spalding in describing her development as an artist. Spalding has played in concert halls and jazz clubs all over the world and her larger than life image adorns the exterior of the Berklee College of Music where she teaches.
