Circle of Lights
Program Description

Program featuring folk singer Pete Seeger, The Pennywhistlers from South Africa, Doc Watson (a guitar player and folk singer from Appalachia), the Rev. Frederick Douglass Kirkpatrick, and Tony Saletan.

From December 1968 WGBH Program Guide: “A Holiday Songfest with Pete Seeger and his friends - folksingers all - celebrates the coming of winter and the approaching festive season. It will be an informal, joyous gathering, a 90-minute special seen throughout the Eastern Seaboard on stations of the Eastern Educational Network. Produced by WGBH, the program pays homage in song to the ideals which lead men out of darkness. Seeger, whose ‘Rainbow Quest’ is one of the most popular series on Channel 2, was also the host for the widely-acclaimed ‘Roomful of Music’ aired several years ago. Now he has his own holiday special, as gifted folksingers join him to perform the music of many lands”.
