Series Description

Series comprised of 10 programs. During the course of a new NETRC series, Professor Edwin Burr Pettet of Brandeis University investigates what makes man laugh. Dealing chiefly with humor in theatre, Professor Pettet and other members of Brandeis University's faculty and student body discuss topics including conditions for laughter, incongruity, superiority inhibition, the clown, the farce, comedy and the development of humor, wit of situation, verbal wit, and parody, burlesque and satire.

Produced and directed by Greg Harney. Series release date: 1959
