- Program Description
In late 1937, the newly married Tom Barger set off to look for oil in Arabia; he would stay for 32 years and become the chairman of Aramco. His diaries, letters to his young wife, and home movies give a firsthand account of the early days of exploration and disappointment. The story of oil moves between the romance of the desert and the intrigue of politics, with a cast of characters that includes Arabian kings, British adventurers, Iranian politicians, and American presidents and businessmen.
