Program Description

Wilkie Collins' novel is one of the earliest and most enduring tales in the annals of mystery fiction. Susan Bidler ("The Tenant of Wildfell Hall") plays Anne Catherick, a sane woman who is locked up in an asylum by Sir Percival Glyde, a fraudulent English aristocrat who is afraid Anne may expose his "secret." Escaping from the asylum in a white gown, Anne runs into the youthful hero, artist Walter Hartright, who is haunted by his brief meeting with this "woman in white." Tara Fitzgerald plays Marian Farlie.
