- Season’s Best : News and Documentary
- Program Description
For the first time, WGBH gives viewers an exclusive inside look at producers’ and hosts’ picks for their favorite news and documentary shows of the season. Drawing from the wealth of award-winning public affairs programming offered on public television, the producers of Season’s Best placed calls to PBS’ top news and documentary producers to get their insights as to which shows they felt were the most important, and why. Season’s Best features Frontline executive producer David Fanning discussing segments from Frontline’s “The History of the Credit Card” and “Private Warriors,” a documentary about contract soldiers in Iraq. Other featured WGBH programs include American Experience’s “Castro” and “Kinsey,” as well as Greater Boston. The show also includes material from The NewsHour, Tavis Smiley, Washington Week and NOW. “Watching the segments is a reminder of the great work these journalists are doing,” says Executive Producer Darcy Corcoran.
