- Program Number
- Series Description
Hosted by Eric Sevareid. ENTERPRISE's pioneering use of the "case study" approach to business documents high level decisions as they are taking place in the executive boardrooms. ENTERPRISE deliberately shows decision making processes as they occur. Business is treated as a human endeavor rather than an economic phenomenon. It goes beyond the statistics and charts to show real people making critical decisions and then bearing the consequences. ENTERPRISE benefits from the expertise of the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration (as Harvard professors act as advisors to each program.) Ex Prod: Zvi Dor-Ner / Each individual episode has different producer Series release date: 10/1981
- Program Description
Hosted by Eric Sevareid. EP traces two companies as they push to make it first to the marketplace with radically new airplane designs. William Lear, inventor of the car radio and the Learjet, had another inspiration -- a small airplane with a helicopter-like turbine engine built of carbon fiber. Beech Aircraft, under the management of dismissed Lear managing director Linden Blue, begins development of the Starship, a small, fuel-efficient business airplane. The Starship is a direct competitor to the Lear Fan with an extra set of wings and no tail. Linden Blue stakes his reputation and the firm's future on the success of an unproven design, gambling that his bold idea will fly.
