Series of five to ten minute fillers produced by Denis O’Neal to air after the spring 1982 WGBH broadcast of the BBC series “Ireland: A Television History.”
Segment 1: Traditional Irish Musical group Blackbird perform "Castle Drummond," "Captain Thompson," and "The Gravel Walk."
Segment 2: Storyteller Jay O'Callahan tells the folk tale "Connor and the Leprechaun" to a group of school children, after which he talks about the Irish love of language and the ways in which words bring people together.
Segment 3: "Having a Time" features a breakfast meeting/political “roast” in South Boston during St. Patrick's week (1982) at the South Boston Boys and Girls Club. Appearing are several Boston politicians including Albert L. “Dapper” O’Neil; Raymond Flynn,; William Bulger; Christopher Iannella; and the Director of the South Boston Boys and Girls Club (unidentified).
Segment 4: Interview and performance by Harpist Caitriona Yeats.
Segment 5: Profile of television and radio personality Fred Allen. Features excerpts of his radio shows, intermixed with recollections of Allen from Edward Weeks, editor emeritus of The Atlantic.
