- Hard Lessons at Chelsea High
- Program Description
Elsa Wasserman left her job at an elite Cambridge, MA, high school to take on the leadership of Chelsea High School, where she hopes to transform a deteriorating institution into a model urban school. This is the story of her first year as Chelsea's principal - a year that tests her ability to withstand and overcome anarchy (discipline problems and organizational confusion); internal and external politics (especially surrounding Boston University's takeover of the Chelsea school system); and a city-wide budget crisis that points to the apathy toward its children that plagues Massachusetts' poorest communities.
