Program Description

Journalist William Greider examines what he calls "the deepening divide between the governed and the governing" in this Election '92 report. Greider examines the institutions of democracy - among them the two political parties and the press - and how they are failing the public. The program combines political investigations in Washington, historical analyses, interviews and the insights and experiences of ordinary citizens across the country. A number of citizens are profiled who are still working for change, but many of the most conscientious and active citizens are alienated from voting since they no longer view elections as useful tools for change.
