Program premiered in 1971 with The First Churchills. Hosted by Alastair Cooke. Intended as a showcase for the best of British television drama. Spawned MYSTERY! in 1980. - Program Description
The Mill opens with Alice's introduction to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Holland. Mrs. Holland is bedridden, dropsical old woman who warns Alice that everything must be done properly to serve Mr. Holland. She is so eager to please, Mr Holland is impressed and seduces her. When son Albert returns home from WWI military service, Mrs. Holland strives to keep him from noticing Alice and Mr. Holland strives to keep him from noticing Alice's condition.
