Program Description

A beautiful young woman elopes with the son of her repulsive guardian and finds herself in a country house terrorized by an evil presence. After seeing her husband stabbed and losing her child shortly after his birth, she turns detective to solve the mystery of her misfortune. 2101 Orphaned as a child, Alice Maybell (Naomi Watts; Mulholland Drive) is taken in by Squire Fairfield (Derek Jacobi; Cadfael, Gladiator) who, twelve years later, has amorous intentions on her. Fleeing his advances, she elopes with his elder son, Charles (Iain Glen; Painted Lady), aided by the Squire's younger son, Harry (Jack Davenport; The Talented Mr. Ripley). The couple live happily at a secluded estate where Alice becomes pregnant. There she encounters Vrau (Aisling O'Sullivan; The American), the blind, disfigured embodiment of Charles's dark past.

2102 Attacked by the madwoman Vrau (Aisling O'Sullivan), Charles (Iain Glen) is perilously injured. Alice's (Naomi Watts) infant son is sent to safety in a nearby village and falls gravely ill. Both husband and child succumb to their respective plights, leaving Alice penniless and haunted by the cruel indifference of her in-laws and Vrau's strange psychosis. When Alice visits her child's grave five years later, the mystery surrounding Wyvern -- and her child's death -- begins to unravel.
