- Program Description
The Other Drug War asks whether it is possible to balance Americans’ appetite for life-saving medical innovation with society’s need to provide affordable drugs for all. Produced by Jon Palfreman, whose recent FRONTLINE credits include “What’s Up with the Weather?” and “Harvest of Fear,” the documentary features interviews with legislators, scientists, consumers, and industry leaders, and examines how states like Maine and Oregon have moved to control escalating prescription drug costs in the face of strong opposition from the pharmaceutical industry. Given the current debate in Congress and the extensive press attention to this issue, the documentary is extremely timely, providing an in-depth look at the arguments over drug pricing in America.
