Elliot Norton Reviews
Jerome Lawrence
Series Description

Boston theatre critic Elliot Norton interviews prominent actors, directors and producers on their craft. (Aired from October, 1958 to 1982. Winner of both Peabody and Tony Awards.) Series release date: 1958

Program Description

Jerome Lawrence will be Mr. Norton’s only guest as he and Elliot Norton discuss Mr. Lawrence’s new book “Actor,” which recreates the life and time of Paul Muni. Jerome Lawrence is remembered for his co-authorship of “Mame” and “Inherit the Wind.” “Actor” is a fascinating biography of Paul Muni, the great film actor who began his theatrical career with the Yiddish Theatre in America, but the book encompasses more than Muni’s life; it gives an interesting and accurate picture of the American Theatre and the American film industry of those times.

Taped November 6, 1974.
