- Program Description
Broadcast Tuesdays beginning November 20, 1973 over nine weeks.
Freed from excessive plot-telescoping, this is the first dramatization able to convey a real sense of the novel’s richness of character and incident, and to paint it all on an equally sprawling canvas. The production starred Anthony Hopkins as Pierre, Morag Hood as Natasha, Sylvester Morand as Nikolai, Rupert Davies as Count Rostov and Faith Brook as Countess Rostov. BBC production of Leo Tolstoy's epic Russian novel. Introductions by WGBH, narration by Robert J. Lurtsema.
