Long Ago and Far Away captures the spirit of children's literature in a weekly series showcasing international television programs of classic and contemporary children's books, folktales, and fairy tales. The animated and dramatic productions recall the magic of storytelling. Series release date: 1988
- Program Description
The goddess Athena brings the wondrous winged horse Pegasus to the home of the Muses. There he lives in bliss until Athena gives him to a mighty warrior to help him slay a three-headed monster. When the aging warrior tries to gain immortality by riding Pegasus toward Mount Olympus to join the gods, Zeus is angered by his hubris and knocks the hero back to earth. Pegasus survives the fall and is made immortal and transformed into the brightest star in his own majestic constellation. Mia Farrow narrates.
