Program Description

When a young man arrives at Shrewsbury Abbey aggressively seeking permission to join as a novice, Cadfael suspects that his motives may not be entirely selfless. A senior cleric sent to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a colleague forms the same impression. Suspicions intensify when the half-burnt body of the cleric is found. Cadfael investigates and flushes out the story of a tortured family life from which the young man is fleeing. Although the novice admits to the murder, Cadfael exposes his lie as a cover-up.
