Series Description

Long Ago and Far Away captures the spirit of children's literature in a weekly series showcasing international television programs of classic and contemporary children's books, folktales, and fairy tales. The animated and dramatic productions recall the magic of storytelling. Series release date: 1988

Program Description

Three more magical episodes from the French claymation series, "The Happy Circus." "The Elephant and the Whale" tells the story of a whale on display at the zoo who is rescued by a circus elephant and returned to the sea. In "Timber the Lumberjack," a lumberjack whose livelihood is taken away is invited to join a traveling circus. In "Circus Dream," a young boy's daydreams of the circus magically come to life.
