Boston theatre critic Elliot Norton interviews prominent actors, directors and producers on their craft. (Aired from October, 1958 to 1982. Winner of both Peabody and Tony Awards.) Series release date: 1958

Program Description

Lenny Bruce, the controversial nightclub entertainer, is the subject of a Broadway hit which opened in New York in 1971. Recently the Boston Company of “Lenny” opened at The Charles playhouse. Starring Marty Brill (at present he co-stars in “The New Dick Van Dyke Show TV series) as ‘Lenny,’ with co-star Mary Small (remember “The Little Girl with the Big Voice”?) playing the role of Lenny’s mother and also that of a stripper, this production is directed by Jon Yates. In addition Mr. Brill, Ms. Small and Mr. Yates, Mr. Norton will have as his guest Julian Barry, who wrote the play. Mr. Barry is a former pupil of Mr. Norton’s.
