- Program Description
Two woman academics from Oxford are drawn together as the rest of the scholarly world sides against them after they make public a vision they had during their visit to Versailles. They claim to have seen the ghosts of Marie Antoinette and members of her court more than 100 years after their execution. About ten years after they saw the ghosts, the two teachers wrote the book on which this story is based. Their struggle brought their women's college into disrepute at a time when the university was weighing giving full academic status to their college at all-male Oxford.
