- Program Description
Reissued as Masterpiece Theatre: Detective Chief Inspector Jane Tennison's appointment to head a homicide investigation has been continuously blocked due to sexual discrimination. But when the detective investigating the brutal death of a young woman dies, Tennison is put in charge of the inquiry. A "prime suspect" is arrested but an eyewitness fails to identify this suspect as the perpetrator. Contending with sabotage attempts by her own department -- and the realization that this crime is similar to past unsolved murders -- makes Tennison's investigation of a serial killer a difficult case to crack.
