Wal-Mart Profits The megastore Wal-Mart is reporting profits while other major retailers are reporting a disastrous October. Poor sales during October heightens concerns about the November-December holiday shopping period which can account for as much as 50% of merchants annual profits and sales.

Michael Crichton Obit Author Michael Crichton died of cancer on Tuesday in Los Angeles at age 66.
